私の絵画作品は、主に額込みで販売しています。
そのため、Galleryページでも額装した状態の写真を掲載しています。
なぜなら、額装も作品の一部だと考えているからです。
額に収めることで、作品が一層美しく仕上がります。
また、選ぶ額や額装方法によって、
作品の持つ雰囲気が大きく変化します。
額装と一口で言っても、マットを入れる場合と、
マットを入れずに直額装する場合とがありますが、
仕上がりの雰囲気が大分異なります。
マットを入れる場合は、作品と額との間に静かな「間」が生まれ、
作品の魅力が一層引き出されます。
額縁を箱とするならば、マットは包装紙のようなものだと個人的に思っていて、
柄や色、質感など、絵と箱を飾り立てて包む、
装飾的な役割と保護的な役割とをマットは担ってくれています。
一方で、マットを挟まない直額装の場合は、
絵と額縁が融合し、額縁のデザインごと、作品の一部のように仕上がります。
マットを含む額装の場合より、コンパクトに収まるのも特徴です。
絵が、額という箱に詰められた標本のような美しさを放つ、
額装方法だと思っています。
最近では、一部の額縁にオリジナルの塗装を施し、
質感や色味を作品と合うように仕上げています。
木製額に鉄素材のような質感を伴わせたり、
アンティークのようなシャビー加工を施したりしながら、
個々の絵に、最も合う形の額装を模索しています。
Commissionsページで受け付けているオーダー制作では、
額装の要望も承っています。
基本的には絵と合う形の額装をお選びしますが、

My original paintings are mostly sold complete with their frames. For this reason, the photos featured on my Gallery page always show the artworks in their framed state.
This is because I consider the frame to be an integral part of the artwork itself. Enclosing a painting in a frame completes its beauty, elevating it to another level. Furthermore, the overall mood of a piece changes dramatically depending on the frame selected and the framing method used.
When it comes to framing, there are two main approaches: framing with a mat board, and direct framing without a mat. Each creates a distinctly different atmosphere.
When a mat board is used, a quiet space—a peaceful “pause”—is born between the artwork and the frame, bringing out the charm of the painting even further. If we think of the frame as a gift box, I personally view the mat as the wrapping paper. Through its pattern, color, and texture, the mat serves both a decorative and protective role—elegantly wrapping and adorning both the painting and its box.
On the other hand, direct framing (without a mat) fuses the painting and the frame together, making the frame’s very design feel like part of the artwork itself. Another characteristic of this method is that it creates a more compact presentation compared to matted framing. I see this approach as imparting a unique beauty, almost like a precious specimen preserved inside the box of a frame.
Recently, I have also begun applying custom painted finishes to some of my frames to match the texture and tone of each individual artwork. Whether giving a wooden frame the weighty texture of iron or applying an antique-style shabby finish, I am constantly exploring the ideal framing form that best complements each piece.
