私の作品の多くは、ガッシュ絵具を用いて制作しています。
ガッシュというのは「不透明水彩絵具」のことで、
よく透明水彩絵具と比較されたり、アクリルガッシュと混同されたりしますが、
ガッシュも水彩絵具の一種です。
透明水彩に比べて顔料の比率が高いため、絵具同士を塗り重ねる表現に適しており、
色彩・質感共にマットで落ち着いた印象に仕上がります。
私は彩度の少し低い、静かで穏やかな色合いを好むため、
この画材を長く愛用しています。
ガッシュというと、一般的には背景を覆い隠すような「厚塗り」の技法をイメージされる方が多いかもしれません。
けれど、厚塗りだけでなく、水彩ならではの柔らかで淡い着彩を行うこともできる、
とても奥深い画材です。
私は主に、赤、青、黄色の三原色と、白絵具を加えた4本の絵具をベースに
混色によって色を作っています。
混色によってできるおだやかな色合いが、
私の描く植物や人物と融合して、作品世界を鮮やかに彩ってくれます。
個展など、まとまって作品を展示する際にぜひご覧になっていただきたいのですが、
混色によって描く作品群は、色同士が喧嘩をすることなく、
並べたときの調和がとても美しいのです。
ひとつの部屋に複数の絵を並べて飾る際にも、空間にそっと馴染んでくれます。
また、ガッシュは耐光性（光による退色のしにくさ）にも非常に優れているため、
日々の暮らしの中で長く飾り、育てるアートピースとしても最適な画材だと考えています。

Most of my artworks are created using gouache.
Gouache is an opaque watercolor medium. While it is often compared to transparent watercolors or confused with acrylic gouache, it is fundamentally a type of watercolor paint. Because it has a higher pigment concentration than transparent watercolors, it is well-suited for layering colors, resulting in a matte, beautifully calm texture and tone.
I have long favored this medium because of my preference for quiet, gentle colors with a slightly lower saturation.
When people think of gouache, they often imagine an impasto technique—applying thick layers to completely cover the background. However, it is a remarkably deep medium that allows not only for thick applications but also for the soft, delicate, and translucent washes characteristic of traditional watercolors.
I create my colors by mixing a base of just four tubes of paint: the three primary colors (red, blue, and yellow) along with white. The gentle, nuanced hues born from this mixing process blend seamlessly with the plants and figures I draw, quietly bringing the world of my artwork to life.
If you have the opportunity to see my work displayed together at a solo exhibition, you will notice that pieces painted from this shared mixture never clash; instead, they create a beautiful, resonant harmony when placed side by side. Even when hanging multiple paintings in a single room, they gently naturally adapt to the surrounding space.
Furthermore, gouache possesses excellent lightfastness (resistance to fading over time). For this reason, I believe it is the ideal medium for creating art pieces meant to be lived with, displayed, and cherished in your daily life for years to come.
