作品の保管や飾り方について、直接ご質問をいただくことがあります。

1. 作品の素材と耐光性への配慮

私が主に使用している画材ガッシュ（不透明水彩絵具）は、耐光性に優れている
絵具を使用しています。
また、支持体の水彩紙もコットン100パーセントのものを使用しており、
こちらも優れた耐光性と耐久性を備えています。
仕上げにはカビ防止のスプレーなども散布しており、
一番良い状態で作品を保てるように留意しています。

2. おすすめの飾り場所

そのため、基本的には直射日光などの紫外線の当たる場所を避け、
風通しの良いところであれば、自由に飾っていただきたいとお伝えしています。

蛍光灯下などよりはLED電灯下の方が好ましいですが、
ほとんどの作品で額装をしており、額縁にはUVカットのアクリル板などを使用していますので、
そこまで神経質に心配なさる必要もないかと思います。

額縁に関しても同様で、木製の額を使用することも多いので、
作品と同じく、風通しの良い場所で飾っていただくのが一番良いかと思います。
お好きな壁や家具の上などに飾って、
作品とともに日々の生活を楽しんでいただければ嬉しいです。

 

3. 箱に入れて長期保管する場合

コレクションが多い方などは、飾らずに長期保管される方もおられるかと思います。
梱包の際、安全にお届けさせていただくために、箱内で作品を緩衝材などで保護させていただく場合があります。
作品をお受け取り後は一度開封いただき、緩衝材などを外していただければ幸いです。
また、箱に入れて長期保管される場合は、定期的に箱を開けて風を通していただくか（虫干し）、
除湿剤などを入れて頂くのが良いかと思います。

私がよくお伝えしていることですが、
あまり気負わずに、作品を飾っていただきたいと思っています。
多くの配慮を行なっても、物質なので作品の経年劣化を完全に止めることはできません。
美術品における劣化は、「防ぐ」ものではなく、できる限り「遅らせる」という考えです。

それよりも、年月が経つことで生まれるわずかな風合いの変化を
生活とともに楽しんでいただければ嬉しいなと思います。

Occasionally, I receive direct questions regarding how to display and store my paintings.

1. Materials and Lightfastness

The primary medium I use is gouache (opaque watercolor), and I carefully select paints with high lightfastness. Additionally, I use 100% cotton watercolor paper for the support, which also offers excellent durability and light resistance. For the finishing touch, I apply a protective anti-mold spray to ensure the artwork remains in its best possible condition.

2. Recommended Display Locations

Because of these protective steps, my general advice is simply to display the artwork wherever you like, as long as it is in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight and harsh UV rays.

While LED lighting is preferable to fluorescent light, most of my pieces are framed using UV-protective acrylic glazing. Therefore, there is no need to worry too much.

The same applies to the frames. Since I often use wooden frames, they also perform best in well-ventilated spaces. I would be delighted if you could hang them on your favorite wall or place them on top of your furniture to enjoy the artwork as part of your daily life.

3. Long-Term Storage in a Box

For collectors who own many pieces, you might choose to store some of them for extended periods rather than displaying them all at once.

To ensure safe delivery, I sometimes wrap the artwork with protective cushioning inside the box. Once you receive your package, I kindly ask that you unbox it and remove the inner cushioning materials.

If you plan to store the artwork in its box for a long time, it is best to periodically open the box to let it air out, or to place a silica gel packet (desiccant) inside.

As I often like to share, I hope you won’t feel overly anxious about displaying your artwork.

No matter how many precautions are taken, physical objects will naturally age over time. Rather than trying to completely “prevent” aging in fine art, the goal is to gently “delay” it.

More than anything, I hope you will enjoy watching the subtle changes in texture and character that naturally emerge over the years as the artwork lives alongside you.
