Nagnoma（ナグノーマ）は、私が作品の中で描き続けている、どこにも存在しない世界です。
人物や植物は特定の物語の登場人物ではなく、その世界を静かに形づくる存在として描いています。
この世界には、私自身が「還りたい」と願う風景や感覚が込められています。
Nagnomaとは造語で、私が自身の作品世界に名付けた名前です。
昔から、私自身が「還りたい場所」という強い願望のようなテーマがあり、
そこで生きる生物や植物をイメージして絵を描いています。
日々の暮らしの中で、ふと「この景色を知っている」と感じる瞬間があります。
初めて訪れた場所なのに懐かしい。
初めて見る風景なのに、どこか記憶の中にあるように思える。
私にとって、その感覚は「還りたいどこか」を思い出させる、大切な感覚です。
「理想郷は記憶の中にある」という言葉があります。
私の還りたい世界も、どこか理想郷の世界のようでいて、
一方で過去の様々な経験や記憶から構築される確かな現実世界なのだと思います。
自然あふれる土地で、たくさんの植物と共に過ごした私の記憶が、
作品の中にあふれる多くの植物とリンクしているのだとも思います。
創作世界”Nagnoma”を「還りたい世界」と書いているのも、
冬に一度枯れ、色彩のなくなった大地から、春に鮮やかな生命が循環する様子を
何度も何度もくり返し眺め、過ごしてきた経験によるものだと思います。
私が描く植物や人物は、誰かの物語ではなく、私自身が還りたいと願う世界を形づくる静かな存在です。
作品を通して、その世界の空気や、繰り返される生命の循環を少しでも感じていただけたら嬉しく思います。
【What Is Nagnoma? — The World I Long to Return To】
Hello, I’m Bansyoyo.
*Nagnoma* is an imaginary world that exists only within my paintings.
The people and plants that appear in my work are not characters from a specific story. Rather, they are quiet presences that shape this world together.
Within Nagnoma are the landscapes and sensations of a place I have always longed to return to.
The name *Nagnoma* is a word I created for this world.
For as long as I can remember, I have carried a quiet longing for “a place to return to.” Through my paintings, I imagine the people, plants, and living things that inhabit that unseen world.
In everyday life, there are moments when I suddenly feel as though I have seen a place before.
A landscape I am visiting for the first time somehow feels familiar.
A scene I have never experienced before seems to exist somewhere in my memory.
For me, these moments gently remind me of “somewhere I long to return to.”
There is a saying that *”utopia exists within our memories.”*
Perhaps the world I long for is something like that—a quiet ideal, yet at the same time a place shaped by fragments of real memories and experiences gathered throughout my life.
I also believe that my childhood memories of growing up surrounded by nature are deeply connected to the abundance of plants that appear throughout my paintings.
When I describe Nagnoma as “the world I wish to return to,” I think of the landscapes I watched year after year: the earth falling silent and colorless through winter, then bursting back into life each spring as plants quietly returned.
The figures and botanical forms in my paintings are not characters from someone else’s story. They are gentle presences that give shape to the world I long to return to.
Through my work, I hope you can experience a small glimpse of its atmosphere—and perhaps feel the quiet rhythm of life’s endless cycle.
